Love Across Borders

Green Card Anthology Project

“In a democratic society, where every individual opinion counts, and where nothing, finally, is left to some king or group of party elitists, art’s incomparable ability to instruct, to make alternatives intellectually and emotionally clear, to spotlight falsehood, insincerity, foolishness–art’s incomparable ability, that is, to make us understand–ought to be a force bringing people together, breaking down barriers of prejudice and ignorance, and holding up ideals worth pursuing.”

John Gardner, On Moral Fiction

Previously published authors, turn your art into action. Contribute an original long story/novella in English to a project that entertains romance readers while informing them about permanent resident cards (the Green Card in the US) and their value–love stories of citizens of one country falling for foreigners, who then stay and become permanent residents/citizens of that new country. All profits will be donated to the ACLU. The goal is to expose readers to the experience of becoming a legal naturalized citizen in the United States or another country, for the purpose of staying with the one they love. Cultural differences and legal challenges overcome by love.
